Obituary – Mary Louise Cooper Samuels

Mary Louise Cooper Samuels, 91, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, at Providence Assisted Living in Searcy, Ark.  A graveside service will be held Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019, at 1 p.m. at Oxford Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation will be prior to the service from 12 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. at Waller Funeral Home.

 

Born Aug. 20, 1928, to John Vincent Cooper and Lummie Stewart Cooper, she grew up in Taylor, Miss. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Robert H. Samuels, of Water Valley, Miss., her parents, and her sister, Alice Cooper Hedge, and her husband, Warren. Having lived in Memphis over 40 years, they returned to their beloved Mississippi roots where they were active members in St. Andrews United Methodist Church. They moved to Beebe, Ark., to be near family. Her final residence was Providence Assisted Living in Searcy where she was happiest at the bridge table!

She is survived by her son, Ronald L. Samuels, and his wife, Lynn, of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, Donna Samuels Walton, and husband, Earl, of Beebe, Ark.; grandchildren Whitney Samuels Musser (Matt), Cooper A. Samuels (fiancé Alex Kelly), all of Nashville, Tenn., and Hollie Walton Gumm (Matthew), of Fayetteville, Ark.; and great-grandchildren, Walker and Hunter Musser, of Nashville, Tenn., and Averee, Trevor, Caleb, Jayden, and Isaac Gumm all of Fayetteville. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends that she loved dearly.

 

The family has requested expressions of sympathy in her memory be made to Beebe First United Methodist Church – Children’s Ministry, Tiffany Jones, Director, 302 North Main Street, Beebe, AR 72012 or Arkansas Hospice, 410 North Apple Street, Searcy, AR 72143.
