What was supposed to be a normal ride home after school Tuesday turned into something else.

An incident involving two Lafayette County School District buses on Tuesday is now under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred around 3:44 p.m., when the two buses (Nos. 23 and 515) collided in the area of the Highway 7 South and Highway 9 split. No students were injured and nobody involved in the accident suffered major injuries, but one driver received minor injuries to their neck.

According to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, one buss rear-ended the other due to a brake failure. The MHP is still conducting an investigation to find the exact cause of the crash.
