The University of Mississippi announced Wednesday its selection committee to find the school’s new vice chancellor for intercollegiate athletics.
Following the backlash the University and the IHL received for the appointment of Dr. Glenn Boyce as chancellor, and the IHL’s abandonment of protocol in selecting Boyce, the announcement was met with skepticism by many on social media.
In a poll conducted by the EAGLE, which asked if readers believed the Ole Miss Athletics Director search would be conducted using a fair and transparent process, 68 percent voted “No.”
The first two comments on Facebook under the EAGLE’s story detailing the announcement of the search committee read: “What’s the over/under on Mike Glenn getting the job?” and, “So they’re hiring Mike Glenn, then. Gotcha.”
For reference, Glenn is a former FedEx executive who is running the search committee. Glenn also led the search committee that resulted in the hiring of Ross Bjork as athletic director in 2012.
I’m excited for Mike Glenn to officially become the AD after he hears all of the other potential ADs best ideas.

"only in advisory capacity" made me laugh louder than "*partial," which is also very funny https://t.co/4zAKeZG4VA

Editor’s note: The University confirmed that the names released were indeed that of the full committee.
My “prediction” is that it’s long since been decided or very close to it

Yup, Ole Miss definitely has not spoken to anyone about the job prior to today. Definitely not. Insinuating even anything near that point would be absurd. https://t.co/CY8RGGX91G

Wait…I’ve seen what happens when OM has “search committees” with special advisors. But why does Archie need to pay himself 6 figures before he hires himself @UMchancellor https://t.co/dBQybE7VMd

Meeting dates for the committee and a shortlist of names have not been publicly announced.
