A wreck at Tallahatchie River Bridge resulting in the death of two people is under investigation, according to Mississippi Highway Patrol.

On May 2 at approximately 5:55 p.m., a 1993 Nissan SE driven by Bobby G. Townsend, 45 of Abbeville, was traveling northbound on Highway 7 in the area of the Tallahatchie River Bridge when he entered into the path of a 2001 Chevrolet S10 driven by Misty E. Devaughn of Caruthersville, Mo., traveling southbound.

The crash resulted in the deaths of Townsend and Devaughn. Three passengers received moderate injuries and were transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi. Ryan Z. Golliday, 32 of Oxford, Bryanna N. Heathcock, 20, and a minor, both of Caruthersville, were identified as the passengers injured in the crash.
