The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for areas that include North Mississippi including Lafayette, Panola, Quitman, Marshall, Desoto, Tunica, Tate, Benton, Alcorn, Union, Tishamingo, Tippah, Cohoma and Prentiss.

The weather forecast calls for near 70 degree temperatures across the region with heavy rain and high wind gusts that could produce tornados. Chance of rain is 90%, with expected precipitation of between a quarter  to a half  inch of rain this afternoon.
