On Dec. 12, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center personnel found 53-year-old Marie Parkman, a white female from Jackson, unresponsive in her cell.

LCSO Detention Center medical personnel immediately administered life-saving measures until Priority (Baptist) Ambulance Service paramedics arrived and assumed patient care.

Unfortunately, the inmate was pronounced deceased.

LCSO deputies secured the area until investigators with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation could arrive and assume the investigation. At this time, foul play is not suspected.

This is an active investigation, and MBI is the lead on this investigation.
