Marie Parkman, 53, of Jackson was discovered unresponsive in her cell at the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center on Dec. 12.

Detention center medical staff attempted life-saving measures until Priority Ambulance Service paramedics took over patient care. Parkman was subsequently pronounced deceased.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation took over the investigation. Foul play is not suspected.
