Lafayette announces ‘Teachers of the Year’

The Lafayette County School District has announced the Teachers of the Year, an honor recognizing the outstanding educators within the district, chosen for their exceptional dedication and service by their fellow teachers. 

These educators, who embody the district’s commitment to excellence, will be honored with a plaque by the school board, and the District Teacher of the Year will have the opportunity to apply for the MS Teacher of the Year.

Gloria Smith from Lafayette High School leads the honorees with 30 years of experience in mathematics education, marking her third receipt of the accolade.

Arvy Allen represents Lafayette Elementary School, bringing 11 years of service, while Stuart Meagrow from the Oxford-Lafayette School of Applied Technology has been acknowledged for his 19 years of commitment.

Annie Thomas from Lafayette Middle School and Jennifer Hewlett from Lafayette Upper Elementary School round out the group of distinguished recipients.
