Sons of American Revolution meets Thursday

The Daniel McKie Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will meet Thursday, Jan. 11, at 5:30 p.m. at Chow King Restaurant on West Jackson Avenue.

The program will be given by Larry Hellums on the topic “POW prisons/camps and treatment of POWs during the American Revolution.”

There will also be the presentation of a short essay on “Why the Colonies Rebelled Against Great Britain” by Truett Atkinson, a Houston homeschool student who is the local winner of the SAR Essay Contest.

Visitors are welcome and are invited to attend.

The SAR is a patriotic, historical and educational nonprofit organization whose members trace lineage to Revolutionary War patriots. SAR seeks to maintain and extend the institutions of American freedom, an appreciation for true patriotism and value of American citizenship.
