OHS announces top Class of ‘24 grads

The Oxford High School Class of 2024 announced its top two students recently –  Zeyad Ibrahim and Scarlet Hemmins.

Ibrahim

The student with the top-ranked GPA of 4.77 is Zeyad Ibrahim, son of Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim and Mrs. Reham Helal. Throughout his journey at OHS, Zeyad has embraced qualities of diligence and dedication to excellence, especially in STEM fields like Science and Math.

Continuously seeking growth opportunities, he has engaged in extracurricular activities such as science competitions and community service projects, driven by a genuine desire to give back to the community.

Zeyad plans to pursue a degree in pharmaceutical sciences, aspiring to contribute meaningfully to health care.

Hemmins

The OHS scholar ranked second in the class with a 4.55 GPA is Scarlet Hemmins. Scarlet is the daughter of Cristen and Andy Hemmins.

Scarlet has been a violinist in the school’s orchestra for eight years. She volunteers as a children’s art teacher for the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council. She is a National Merit Finalist and has been awarded both AP Scholar with Distinction and AP Rural and SmallTown Scholar recognition. 

Scarlet is fully committed to attending Dartmouth College next fall, where she will be pursuing a STEM-related degree on a pre-med track.

Oxford High School’s commencement ceremony will take place May 24 at the Sandy and John Black Pavilion on the campus of the University of Mississippi.
