Oxford baseball defeats Southaven 10-5

The Oxford Chargers defeated the Southaven Chargers 10-5 on Tuesday night at home.
Southaven scored the first three runs of the game with a run in the first and two in the second.
Oxford (12-6) quickly answered in the home half of the second with eight runs of their own.
In the fourth, Oxford plated their ninth run of the game.
Oxford added one final runs in the fifth.
Oxford was led at the dish by Carson Schmelzer who went 1-for-3 with a run and three RBIs.
In the fifth, Southaven scored two more runs making it 9-5.
Oxford had Barrett Kamman on the mound for 2.0 innings and allowed three runs on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
Josh Scruggs took over (earned the win) for 2.1 innings in relief and allowed two runs on a hit with four walks and two strikeouts.
Jack Gaia worked 2.2 innings with no runs allowed in relief.
Oxford returns to the diamond on Thursday to take on Lewisburg. The first pitch is set for 7 p.m. at Oxford High School.
