Taylor joined the OFD in August 2012.

“It is with great sadness that we share the untimely passing of our dear friend and colleague,” said the OFD on Facebook. “Jeff will be remembered for his cheerful demeanor, love of cooking and love for his family. He was an enjoyable presence around the fire department. Jeff always found ways to make others feel welcome and comfortable. We will truly miss his smile and uplifting spirit. Please keep Jeff’s family and friends in your prayers as they navigate this tragic loss.”

Funeral services have not yet been announced.

Taylor was also a cabinet maker and cake decorator. He appeared on “Cake Wars” twice and once on “Holiday Wars” and “Halloween Wars” in 2020.

The Oxford Police Department, the Lafayette County Fire Department and the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department all offered their condolences to the OFD and Taylor’s family and friends on their social media sites.

This is a developing story. The Oxford Eagle will provide updates and funeral service information as they become available.
