Oxford Chargers run-ruled by DeSoto Central

The DeSoto Central Jags ten-run ruled the Oxford Chargers 12-2 on Monday night.

Oxford (17-9) got on the scoreboard in the top of the first as Carson Schmelzer got a base hit and Sam Roy came in to score.

DeSoto Central answered with two runs of their own in the first and second innings, each. The Jags went up 4-1 over Oxford.

Oxford had Barrett Kamman on the mound to start the game against DeSoto Central. Kamman worked 1.1 innings while surrendering four runs on six hits with a strikeout.

In the second, Hayes Huggins took the mound for the Chargers. Huggins worked 3.0 innings and surrendered eight runs (six earned) on eight hits with a strikeout.

The Chargers scored a run in the third as Reid Kent homered to center field. 4-2 Jags.

Kent finished the game going 1-for-3 with a home run, a run scored, and an RBI.

DeSoto Central added three runs in the bottom of the third on two base knocks to go up 7-2.

The Jags scored two more runs in the fourth on a double and a single. DeSoto Central pushed the score to 9-2.

DeSoto Central scored three runs in the fifth to make it 12-2.

The Chargers brought Cade Ferguson to the mound in the fifth, as the Jags had a runner at second.

Oxford returns home on Tuesday to play host to Corinth. The first pitch is set for 7 p.m.
