Chargers bang out 17 hits in 10-0 shutout

Oxford shutout Bruce 10-0 in six innings on Senior Night in Oxford Monday night.

Oxford got on the board as Addy Shorter hit a double, scoring Madi Jones who had reached on a walk. Shorter would score on a Taylor Grace Hamilton single to give the Chargers a 2-0 lead after one inning.

In the second inning Oxford took a 5-0 lead as Paisley Walls and Jones reached base on singles and scored on Shorter’s two out inside the park home run to right field.

Oxford tacked on two more runs in the fourth inning as Madi Jones and Mary-Claire King both scored.

In the sixth inning Shorter and Hamilton scored to make it 9-0 before a Callie Carter single scored pinch runner M’Layjah Dukes to make it 10-0 and end the game.

Overall, Oxford had 17 hits on the night. Jones went 3-for-3 with a walk and scored three runs. Shorter went 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored. 

Hamilton was 3-for-4 with a run scored. Lindsey Gillis was 2-for-4; Madelyn Yon was 1-for-4; and Walls was 3-for-3 with a run scored.

In the circle, Walls worked all six innings and only surrendered one hit with one strikeout and no walks.
