Take-a-Hike!

Spring is an excellent time of year to enjoy the 3/5-mile hike on the arboreous Bailey Woods Trail inside the City of Oxford.  An uneven dirt trail runs the 29-acre wooded tract owned by the University of Mississippi and connects Rowan Oak (William Faulkner’s Greek Revival Home) to the UM Museum parking lot. The featured bridge is less than 2/10ths of a mile from parking lots at either end of the trail.  Though heavily wooded, the odds of finding the fictional Rowan Oak tree are less than the highly unlikely chance of spotting a bear.  Deer, however, are plentiful.
