Lafayette Commodores baseball sweeps Pontotoc

The Lafayette Commodores defeated Pontotoc 4-3 on Saturday to take the series.
Pontotoc got on the scoreboard to open the scoring in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly as a run scored.
Lafayette (24-7) answered with two runs in the second on a sacrifice fly by Foster Crockett and an error that allowed Jack East to score.
The Commodores starting pitcher Tanner Harris kept Pontotoc quiet after the first inning.
Lafayette added two more runs in the sixth on base hits by Swayze Rikard and Crockett to go up 4-1.
Crockett finished the game going 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
Pontotoc railed in the bottom of the seventh with two runs to cut it to 4-3 Lafayette.
Harris worked 7.0 complete innings surrendered three runs (two earned) on three hits with four walks and five strikeouts.
Lafayette advances in the playoffs and will take on the winner of Corinth and New Hope.
