An Oxford man has been arrested for rape, according to the Lafayette County Detention Center.

On Thursday, the Criminal Investigation Unit launched an investigation into a reported rape.

The investigation resulted in the issuance of an arrest warrant for Cory Lemond Smith, 47, of Oxford.

A $1,000 reward was offered by LOU Crimestoppers for any information leading to Smith’s arrest.

Smith was found and taken into custody on Friday.
