Oxford community can support Morton family through Santa’s Workshop 38655

With the Christmas season approaching, the I Am Brave Foundation is hosting a fundraising event to support an Oxford family whose child has a rare form of cancer.

The third-annual Santa’s Workshop 38655, which will allow Oxford businesses and community members to support the Morton family, raised several thousand dollars for another family last year, according to a release.

All funds raised will to Russell and Katrina Morton, whose 18-month-old son, Jack, was born with a condition called CLOVES Syndrome. The syndrome developed a large facial tumor on his face prior to his birth.

Both Oxford business and residents are encouraged to donate and support the Morton family.

Last year’s several thousand dollars worth of proceeds went to the family of Lily Baker, a 3-year-old who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. The release noted Baker is currently doing great.

The Boston Children’s Hospital and LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in tandem will oversee Jack’s treatment, according to a release.

Attendees can write letters to Santa, and have their picture taken with him as well. The even will also feature ornament crafting, Christmas cookie decorating and face painting.

Pam Starling, who works in the University of Mississippi’s Division of Outreach, said last year’s Santa’s Workshop 38655 was a large-scale event, and featured a perfect Santa.

Starling said that Chartre Consulting, among others, are helping to sponsor the event, and Castle Hill is providing the venue for the event.

The event will take place over two days, on December 1st and 2nd at 9:30 a.m. and noon, respectively.

Pre-purchased tickets costs $12.50, and tickets can be purchased at the door for $15 each. However, the cost is reduced to $10 each after tickets are purchased for a second child. This applies to online and at the door purchases.
