MDOT’s public meeting to discuss HWY7 construction this afternoon

The Mississippi Department of Transportation is holding a public meeting this afternoon to discuss proposed construction of a local roundabout.

MDOT currently has construction planned for the roundabout at State Route 7 and State Route 9W in Lafayette County, and citizens can speak with MDOT representatives about the different aspects of the plans.

The meeting is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Oxford Conference Center.

MDOT representatives will be present and address any questions concerning design, right-of-way acquisition and environmental issues. Attendees will be also be able to view the proposed plans and exhibits of the construction plan.

According to an MDOT spokesperson, the main reason for a roundabout in Lafayette County is to allow easier pathways for trucks that come and go from the city through Highway 7.
