Lafayette bowling wins MHSAA bowling championship

Make that two weeks, and two state titles for Lafayette High.

LHS won the MHSAA bowling championship on Friday, giving the school its first bowling title with a sweep over Itawamba AHS 222-191, 143-137, 160-155 for the Class II boys title

The game was a best-of-five Baker Format roll-off and concluded the Class II boy’s tournament, which included teams in Class 4A and 5A.

Lafayette’s Jakob Robertson picked up a spare in the 10th frame, and then threw a strike that closed out the match and clinched the championship.

This comes just one week after the Commodores claimed the 5A girl’s state soccer title with a win over Long Beach.

The Baker Format has five bowlers from each team competing against each other in alternating frames.
