Oxford School District names Hurdle Director of Career Technical Education

The Oxford School District has named its inaugural leader for its Career and Technical Education programs.

Steve Hurdle, who is currently the principal for the Oxford Intermediate School, was named the Director of Career Technical Education for OSD’s CTE programs, according to a release Monday.

In his new role, Hurdle will establish partnerships with employers, the community and local colleges to support the CTE program.

“Since beginning my tenure as principal at Oxford Intermediate in 2014, I have been blessed to work with caring and dedicated professionals,” Hurdle said in a statement. “While I will miss the students and staff at OIS, I am also thrilled about this new opportunity to assist the district to expand our Career and Technical Education (CTE) options.”

ODS’s CTE program is a part of the 95 in five program, set in place by Superintendent Brian Harvey. One of the goals is 95% of seniors enrolling in Advanced Placement, Dual Credit or Career-Technical Courses.

He will begin his new role on July 1, 2019.

“I have had a passion for CTE for many years and I believe our district is now poised to help more of our students find pathways to success,” Hurdle said in a statement. “I am grateful to be a part of this exciting time in the Oxford School District.”
