Bjork: About 12K tickets available for Sugar Bowl

Ole Miss has a certain amount of tickets for its trip to the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1, and athletic director Ross Bjork expects them to go fast.

The school has an allotment of 15,000 tickets for the annual New Year’s Day game, which will pit the Rebels against Oklahoma State. Bjork said 1,000 of those tickets are for students, and by the time tickets are doled out to players, coaches, administrators and other school staff members, approximately 12,000 will be left for season ticket holders.

It’s the first time since 1970 Ole Miss has been invited to the game, which will played at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.

“I don’t know how many people we’re going to have within the city, but I guarantee there’s going to be extra people that go just to go to be a part of the atmosphere that probably won’t be able to get a ticket because I think it’s going to be a very tough ticket,” Bjork said.

Ticket requests for donors and season ticket holders are being taken by the school based on priority points and their giving level to the Ole Miss Athletics Foundation, according to Ole Miss’ official website. Tickets are $150 each regardless of location, and all season ticket holders are allowed to request at least two with priority based on availability.

When Ole Miss’ ticket allotment runs out, all fans will be relegated to purchasing tickets on the secondary market, where they’re already being sold for more than $100 on online marketplaces such as SeatGeek and StubHub.

“There’s going to be a lot of Ole Miss fans looking for tickets, and I think there will be blue and red in New Orleans,” Bjork said.

Season ticket holders can request their tickets online at www.olemisstix.com, by email at olemisstix@olemiss.edu, by fax at 662-915-7528 or over the phone by calling 662-915-7159. More information can be found on the football’s team official website at www.olemissfb.com.
