It’s been 45 years since Ole Miss fans last saw their Rebels play in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.
Archie Manning was the signal caller and the Rebels knocked off Arkansas 27-22 to hand the Razorbacks their only loss of the season.

A new generation of Ole Miss fans– and some of those who saw that 1970 game – are looking forward to watching the No. 12 Rebels take on 16th-ranked Oklahoma State on New Year’s night. Many of those fans have been scrambling all weekend to get tickets to the game.

The matchup of the two teams was announced Sunday afternoon. The Rebels (9-3) earned a berth in the game following Alabama’s SEC championship win Saturday over Florida, becoming the SEC’s No. 2 seeded team from the conference. The Cowboys (10-2) are the No. 2 team from the Big 12 Conference.

Ticket purchases

The best way to get tickets is online, either directly through the Sugar Bowl or from the Ole Miss ticket office. Fans should keep in mind when ordering their tickets that the Rebels are the home team and will be on the west sideline of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Tickets can also be purchased through resellers like Stubhub with many prices on Sunday afternoon beginning around $150 each in the upper seating sections of the Superdome.

Jessica Harwell of Water Valley is one of those planning to buy tickets online today.

“Who knows if this will happen again in my lifetime?” Harwell said.

Ole Miss will also receive an allotment of tickets, which will likely be offered first to students, season ticket holders and major school contributors.

The game will kick off at 7:30 p.m.
