POPLARVILLE — Joyce Faye McClendon Lomax, 85, died Friday, Feb. 12, 2016 at her home in Poplarville. A graveside memorial service will be held today at 3 p.m. at Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born in Poplarville, she was a 32-year resident of Oxford, raised her children while volunteering at the Oxford Lafayette County Hospital and College Hill Academy. She was an active donor and member of North Oxford Baptist Church. She owned and operated two businesses in Oxford, Lookin’ Good Beauty Salon and Country Elegance restaurant.

She was preceded in death by her companion of 27 years, Donald G. Maynard.

She is survived by five children, Jacqueline Schorr of Bay St. Louis, Robbie Lee of Oxford, Gilbert Lomax Jr. of Lake Cormorant, Patricia Gaddis of Hernandon and Maxwell E. Lomax of Harmontown; brother Thurell McClendon of Hammond, Louisiana; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
