WATER VALLEY – Marjorie McMinn Dickey, 87, died Friday, May 13, 2016, at Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home with the Rev. Allen McGraw and the Rev. Stony Moorehead officiating. Burial will bei n the Jumper’s Chapel Cemetery inYalobusha County. Visitation will be held on Monday from 11 a.m. until service time at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, which is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Water Valley, she graduated from Water Valley High School and was known for her athletic achievements as a basketball player. She moved to San Diego, California and was employed by Convair where she worked on airplanes. She moved back to Water Valley 25 years later and retired from Borg-Warner after 25 years as an auditor. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Water Valley and foster grandparent at NMRC. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister who loved her family. She enjoyed painting, sewing and cooking for her family, especially chocolate and coconut pies.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roy Mack Dickey and son, James Dickey.

She is survived by sons Jerry Dickey of Water Valleya nd Chuck Dickey of Las Vegas, Nevada; sisters Kate Butts of Water Valley, Myra Edwards of Louisville and Mary John Turnage of Philadelphia; brother Dennis McMinn of Water Valley; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
