Mr. Archie Lynn Cain, 85, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, at the Mississippi State Veteran’s Affairs Home in Oxford. The funeral service will be Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, at 2 p.m. at New Prospect Baptist Church with the Rev. Everett Childers officiating. Burial will follow in Yellow Leaf Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 12:30 at the church. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Oxford, to the late Julian Silas Cain and Mamie Black Cain, Mr. Cain was a longtime member of New Prospect Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.  He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and enjoyed the outdoors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Danny Cain and two sisters, Mildred Knight and Ruth Sharrer.

Survivors include his wife, Jimmie Nell Cain of Oxford; two daughters, Lynell Gilbert and her husband, Pete of Westminster, South Carolina, and Stacy Barnes and her husband, Russell of Oxford; a son, Randy Cain and his wife, Barbara of Tamms, Illinois; a sister, Catherine Hudson of Prairieville, Louisiana; a brother, Ray Cain of Oxford; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Cain’s memory may be made to New Prospect Baptist Church, 823 Hwy 334, Oxford, MS 38655.
