4-star Ole Miss RB target Cordarrian Richardson commits to Maryland on National Signing Day

Ole Miss was dealt a surprising blow on National Signing Day when 4-star running back target Cordarrian Richardson announced he was committing to Maryland.

Richardson, a Memphis-area running back, released a video on his Twitter account Wednesday announcing his commitment to Maryland, spurning the Rebels as well as Oklahoma and Michigan State to play college football hundreds of miles away. Richardson, a consensus four-star prospect, played at Trezevant.

It’s been a struggle on National Signing Day for Ole Miss to land some of the top prospects in and around the state with an NCAA investigation hovering over the program. Ole Miss has just one of Mississippi’s top 15 recruits — Morton athlete D.D. Bowie — committed, according to 247Sports.com’s composite rankings, and time will tell if that commitment sticks. Morton, who’s also considering Mississippi State, will make his final decision at 12 p.m. today.

The state’s top prospect, Clinton five-star running back Cam Akers, is already enrolled at Florida State.
