MEMPHIS, Tennessee — Virgil Ales, 76, died Monday, April 24, 2017, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Central Academy Church of Christ in Batesville with burial to follow at Cold Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017, from 12:30 p.m. until service time at Wells Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Still Ales of Sardis; daughters Melanie Ales Hawlow of Duck Hill and Tiffany Ales Edwards of Oxford; sons Justin Ales of Hernando and Robert Ales of Sardis; sister Annis Russell of Batesville; brother Lonnie Ales of Batesville; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
