The Magnolia Montessori School may soon be in a new home. The school on College Hill has found a new location on Highway 7.

Phil Baquie, vice chair of the Board of Trustees of the school, came before the Lafayette County Planning Commission this week to inform them the school would be moving and discuss the necessary requirement to move into their new location at the Orchard Church.

According to Baquie, the school currently has 47 students and is looking to be out of their current location by July 9. Magnolia Montessori classes would be held during the week at the Orchard Church.

County Building Inspector Joel Hollowell said the new location has been inspected by County Fire Coordinator Wes Anderson and “he’s notified them of some things that need to be addressed.”

Hollowell suggested that fire areas would need to be added to the facility. It would require the installation of a firewall to create the fire areas, according to Hollowell. He said he and Anderson would inspect the facility this week and address specific requirements in order for the school to occupy the building.
