Former Ole Miss basketball standout Justin Reed is getting financial assistance with his fight against cancer.
A GoFundMe account has been set up to raise money for Reed’s medical expenses. Reed, who starred for the Rebels from 2000-04, was recently diagnosed with angiosarcoma, a rare cancer of the spine.
The account is looking to raise $20,000, and a large chunk of that has already been donated. As of Tuesday morning, the account had raised $16,765.
Reed was an All-Southeastern Conference performer each season for the Rebels and helped the program reach its first-ever Sweet 16 in 2001. He was taken in the second round of the 2004 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics and also spent time with the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Houston Rockets.
