Kenneth Knox James, 82, passed away May 23, 2018 at Greenwood Leflore Hospital.  Funeral services are 11 a.m. Friday May 25, 2018 at North Greenwood Baptist Church with interment in Delay Baptist Church Cemetery in Lafayette County at 3 p.m. Dr. Jim Phillips will officiate.  Visitation is from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.

Knox was born to Columbus Doyle and Ophia Ozment James in the Toccopola community of Lafayette County, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was retired as a Certified Engineering Technician for the Mississippi Highway Department after 42 years of service.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 29 and North Greenwood Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.  Knox was preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse and J. D. James.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gwen, a daughter Kim Bennett of Greenwood; a son, Kerry James (Mary Lynn) of Teoc; three grandchildren, Craig Lawrence James (Kate) of Brandon, Mississippi, Ally  Long and Harris Long of Greenwood and a great-grandchild, Easton Knox James of Indianola, Mississippi.
