Mrs. Edith Vaughn, 73, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Visitation will be Thursday, June 7, 2018, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford. A graveside service will be held Friday, June 8, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Vaughn Cemetery (Abbeville, Miss., formerly Owens Cemetery) with interment to follow. Bro. Randy Hope will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Vaughn was born in Lafayette County in 1945. She worked as a custodian at The University of Mississippi for 16 years. Mrs. Vaughn was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Most days, she could be found coloring beautiful pictures. Mrs. Vaughn adored animals and being in the company of her husband out on their porch swing, or riding around looking at the beauty of the world.
Above all else, Mrs. Vaughn adored her family with amazing devotion, and truly loved being a homemaker and making her family feel loved at all times.
Mrs. Vaughn leaves behind her loving husband, Earl Vaughn, Jr., of Abbeville; three daughters, Betty (David) King of Quitman, Miss., Angela (Mark) Holsclaw of Louisville, Ky., Katherine (Billy) Slone of Abbeville; seven grandchildren, Samantha Myrick Logan, Bradley Myrick, Jessica Vaughn De Mott, Miranda Wilkes, Merideth Vaughn, Timothy Dykes, Hunter Holsclaw, and a great-grandchild, Gabe Logan.
Mrs. Vaughn was preceded in death by her son, Timothy Vaughn, and her parents, William and Susie Mae Atkinson.
