Oxford defeats DeSoto Central 3-0

The Oxford Chargers defeated the DeSoto Central Jags 3-0 on Friday night.

Oxford (17-8) got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first as Brock Siskey scored as he stole home to take a 1-0 lead over DeSoto Central.

Oxford’s starter Brady Stinnett kept DeSoto Central off the scoreboard through four innings, only allowing two hits.

The Chargers added a run in the fourth on a ground ball single by Sharpe Smith.

In the sixth, Reid Kent delivered a single that scored a run to give Oxford a 3-0 lead over DeSoto Central.

Stinnett worked 7.0 complete innings and surrendered no runs on three hits with a walk and eight strikeouts.

Oxford will travel up I-55 on Monday to face DeSoto Central in the second game of the series. The first pitch is set for 7 p.m.
