A probable cause hearing for Molly Wray, the former Lafayette County High School teacher under investigation for inappropriate conduct with a student, will not happen in the month of June.

Alan Wilburn, Chief Investigator of the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, said a few factors were in play when it came to scheduling the hearing and potentially arresting Wray.

“These things have to be done by a circuit court judge, and a couple of them have some conflicts this time of year,” Wilburn said. “We do expect it to happen in the month of July, probably mid-July.”

Wray has been under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department and Mississippi Bureau of Investigation since June 4. The investigation began when the Sheriff’s Department received a complaint from Lafayette County School District Superintendent Adam Pugh regarding reports of improper conduct between a teacher and a student, according to a statement released by the department.

On June 11, an affidavit was filed against Wray, charging her with Enticement of a Child to Meet for Sexual Purposes. Wray was a math teacher at LHS, but has since resigned.
