It was a big weekend for Ole Miss baseball and the nation was paying close attention. After taking two of three from then-ranked No. 2 Louisville over the weekend at Oxford-University Stadium the Rebels (6-1) shot up the respective polls Monday morning.
The biggest leap was in the D1baseball.com poll where they went from being unranked after the opening weekend to finding themselves inside the top-20 at No. 17.
For the polls where Ole Miss was already ranked, the biggest jump was in the Collegiate Baseball poll where they climbed 12 spots to No. 17 after being No. 29 last week. They’re highest ranking comes from the Baseball American poll where they are listed at No. 13 after being No. 21 last week. They round out the polls being ranked No. 15, jumping nine spots, in the Perfect Game poll.
The Rebels conclude their opening eight-game homestand on Wednesday when they host Memphis at 3 p.m. They will then hit the road for the first time this season, heading to Conway, South Carolina for the Coastal Carolina Tournament this weekend. Ole Miss will have another top-2o matchup on Saturday when they play the host team and No. 18 ranked Coastal Carolina at 2 p.m. CT.
Ole Miss kicks off the round robin Friday against Ball State at 11 a.m. CT and close it out versus Cincinnati on Sunday at 10 a.m. CT.
