National Signing Day live updates: implications for local prospects and Ole Miss

Today starts the beginning of one the most important 72-hour windows in all of college football, the beginning of the early signing window. A handful of local and regional prospects will be making up their minds today on where they will be attending college. For Ole Miss and Matt Luke, today is one of the most critical days on the entire calendar. Check back here for updates throughout the day.

7:30am – Lafayette’s Brandon Turnage to Alabama. Eric Jeffries to Ole Miss.

Turnage and Jeffries made their decisions early Wednesday morning, removing any ambiguity. Jeffries signed first, with one single hat on the table. Jeffries was a lock for Ole Miss; the Oxford native is staying home. Turnage left a bit more doubt through the recruiting process, but Wednesday morning was obvious – he is bound for Tuscaloosa. When Turnage showed up the morning of, he was wearing an Alabama polo and had only one hat on the table. For more information on both’s decision, see the full story here.

8:39am – Ole Miss inks two more four-stars

Sam Williams, the nation’s top ranked JUCO pass-rusher, and Darius Thomas, the four-star offensive tackle have signed with the Rebels. Last season, Williams was the NJCAA Defensive Player of the year. The Montgomery, Alabama native should be able to contribute on the defensive line right away for Ole Miss. Darius Thomas, a Jonesboro, Arkansas product, is Ole Miss’ highest rated offensive tackle recruit since Greg Little. He should also compete for a starting tackle job.

8:58am – Beefing up the Ole Miss OL

Matt Luke is beefing up the offensive line. After already receiving letters of intent from Darious Thomas, it’s time to add six more to the list. Reece McIntyre, Carter Colquitt and Jeremy James, all Georgia products have signed their LOI. Bryce Ramsey of Gulfport and Caleb Warren of Louisville are the only Mississippi.products on the OL to sign thus far.  Nick Broeker has also signed. All are three-star prospects.
